The transparency movement

In 2009, the government mandated that police should be held accountable for their actions and their performance. A decision was made to publish a crime map and crime statistics that were easy for the public to understand. This presented some challenges...

Keep it simple

Following a highly competitive pitch where we focused on usability and simplicity, we were selected to deliver the national police website for England and Wales, including crime maps, policing team information and force performance data.

Opening up

We designed and built an open data API that was launched by Tim Berners-Lee, allowing thousands of developers unprecedented access to years of crime data. We safely anonymised this data before publication, ensuring that victims of crime were protected.

Award-winning

We delivered the Police.uk website on time and on budget, received praise from the Home Secretary, and continued to design develop, host, manage and provide support desk services for a further seven years
